April 24th, 2000, when I took that trip downtown.
Monday Matinee, I never thought about it causing such a change.

Six bucks got me through the door and a band called Chubb opened the show
And taught me why Dave Nichols was so great.
Next up two guys screamed about how you’ve got to “shelter the children” (FOR WHAT!)
With such anger and distain.

Well the music hit like a ton of bricks and the floor was shaking.
A whirlwind of kids circled ‘round the room.
With a shoulder down I hit the ground and was soon surrounded,
To be picked back up and placed back on my feet
(LET’S START AGAIN)

LISP begged to go back to fifteen,
Handheld claimed they were “still tickin’”
It was the first and last time I heard “Life’s Refrain”
Another Joe capped off the show, with a fill-in drummer – but you’d never know
I still wonder what would have happened if Moneen had played.

Well, the music hit like a ton of bricks and the floor was shaking.

To be picked back up and placed back on my feet to start again.

On that day I felt a change and my life would never be the same.
A simple punk show changed my world.
With 4/4 time and a T-Riff chord, I was ready to go a start a war…
But first, I’d have to get picked up.
